Meet The Artist

Currently splitting her time between San Diego, CA, Victoria, BC, and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Lucinda (Cindy) Hatt paints primarily in acrylic but enjoys all medium. Her dad, Doug Bradford, has always been a great influence in her art. Cindy tries to emulate his fearlessness and freedom with her colours. Uncle, Ken Bradford, awakened her love for drawing the figure. Seeing his figure sketches on the walls of The Bradford Family house was fascinating as a child. Cindy explores light and movement in her work, which comes from her background as a dancer. Some of her favourite subjects are her family members, both two and four-legged. Her Indigenous heritage is explored in some Ojibwa style work. Cindy has recently exhibited with Sotheby’s International Realty Canada and Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty in La Jolla, CA. Cindy often curates and organizes a Bradford Family Art Exhibit in her hometown Sault Ste. Marie. Up to 20 Bradfords exhibit their artwork. The Bradford Family has painters, writers, filmmakers, animators, sculptors, dancers, musicians, woodworkers, actors and singers that range across the ages. Cindy has been an illustrator for an educational book series and is exploring new and exciting techniques and subject matter in her work. Before pursuing her art full time, Cindy was busy building a North American presence with her family’s Non-toxic DryCleaning business, The WetCleaner, which they have since sold in Spring 2021.

“Painting is like a craving or urge for me. I’ve got work stored in my head that I need to get to. I relish every moment I am drawing, painting, sculpting, crafting or teaching art.”
